Live Painting

In February of this year I had the pleasure of having an art show and live painting in Moonrise Herbs.

In this photo you may see my Painting, "Trinity's Rays" along side my loving partner Joe Zaizar's photography. I just love how our sun rays lined , we truly light up each other's lives.

A glimpse of "Into The Forest I Seep" while on display.

It was such a lovely pleasure to not only share my work with friends and the community of Arcata, but to also be able to personally engage with them and inspire them to create their own art.
Placing the last few touches to this piece was truly a sweet experience, in those moments I was filled with gratitude for those around me, for the opportunity to share my art in such a lovely space, and for everything that has took place in my life to inspire me.

Heart Strings, 2012 , mixed media

Welcome to my art pro-folio, simply a place to share my thoughts and creativity. I would like to start by saying a little about myself-

I began to grow into a higher state of consciousness at a young age. Art has been my companion throughout my transformation and continues to be as I grow in the redwoods of Northern California and travel the world. As a child I drew whatever I could of animals and my family – I even recreated some of my favorite fairy tales.

I attribute my inspiration to create art to my grandmother. She drew, embroidered, wood carved and even painted war planes during WWII. As I grew into my teens, I found myself drawn to the works of Vincent VanGogh, Berthe Morisot and Alphonse Mucha. From these artists I attribute my fondness of extreme color palettes and unique line and stroke. As of late I have been drawn to the contemporary artists Amy Brown, Sylvia Gi, Autumn Skye Morrison, Inka Eissenheim and Michael Page. They have influenced me stylistically and color chromatically.

Art has always been my way to channel energy and harness my dreams. My intent as an artist when I create is to simply communicate , whether it be by displaying content in my art that shares my feelings on a current environmental issue, an element of the human condition, or merely my own emotions.

Presently my mediums of choice consist of oil paint, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, and pen and ink.

"The beauty of life is to experience yourself," and my favorite way of doing so is to witness the beautiful artistic energy of another and its effect on the viewer. My name is Christa Lynn Whittington, I am an artist, a dreamer and a lover of this journey called life. I hope you enjoy life’s beauty to its fullest as I share my life’s moments with you.
